Hi all!

Long time no post. Like literally, I can't remember when I last posted on LJ but I do still check it every day since I mod more than one community, including this one.

I wanted to make a quick post to let you all know since the image host TINYPIC is shutting down, the main layout for merlinxarthur is going to be messy. All the tiny images, as well as the headers and backgrounds I used for this layout, were all hosted on TinyPic. Photobucket is no longer free so while I look for an alternate website to host these images, it's going to look icky for awhile if you are looking at the main page. Also, since I really don't have the time at the moment to look for an alternate free image hosting site AND re-upload all the images on there AND find all the links in the html coding for the layout to replace them, I am not sure when I will be able to tweak it so it'll look nice again.

I apologize in advance! But if anyone has any ideas where I can host these images for free, let me know. Hopefully I find time to fix this. Thanks!

As it has been roughly surface of the sun temperature for the past four months here in sunny hell Texas, going for nice walks not related to going to work is on par with seducing sun cancer into a long term relationship (which is not uncommon in my family), which means--no fast food.

Thing is, we don't eat fast food much. The store nearest us has a small deli of hamburgers, sandwiches, tortas, salads, tacos, and during winter, multi-Latin American tamales, enchiladas, tortilla soup, and other hell yeah at super reasonable prices; if I want to eat out, I go there as everything is delicious (especially the sandwiches). Once every three months, I get fried chicken or there's a better than average chance murder will happen (I am southern; this happens if you don't get something deep fried and covered with gravy at regular intervals). Once a month, pizza, maybe.

But now, I am desperately starving for McDonald's like, all the time. I have now twice--twice, for fuck's sake--ordered McDonald's from Doordash in the last two months. I am not proud of this, but worse, I'm weirded out as fuck, as McDonalds, before the last three months, was Place of Egg McMuffins, Coffee, and Some Other Stuff. Since I got the hang of making circular eggs at home and Keurig has McDonald's Coffee, it's barely that (once it would have been And Cherry Pies, but they don't have those and fuck them). The three years I've lived in walking distance of McDonald's I haven't even gone there. Once in a while when shopping with mom, we get a cheeseburger and split a frly.

..but these last four months, suddenly I'm starving for Big Macs and Chicken Nuggets, every time I think how close it is to walk there and oh if only: then I'm eating a Big Mac, chicken nuggets, and a super size fry like chewing is optional and this shit is weird.

Right now it is a crisp 88 F, truly near sweater weather. This doesn't end soon, I fear for my arteries.

Hi!!!

So I'm in the middle of watching the original series for the first time and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some good fics that explore Spocks mother Amanda a bit more. Her relationship with Spock or how she's treated on vulcan.

I read Tangled Destinies by Keira Marcos and would love anything like that where Spock and at least his mom if not the whole family move to earth when he's still living with them.

Also I've been trying to research a bit more about Tarsus IV and am having some trouble figuring out whats what with that. So if anyone has any reference sites or even books or other materials that talk about it, please feel free to leave me a link so I can stop floundering around in the dark here. I've looked through the Tarsus tag here and found some amazing fics about it but now I'm looking for information.

Hi!
I'm looking for a fic I've read some time ago, unfortunately I don't remember it nearly at all.

It was a very angsty story, with a lot of hurt!Jim. For some reason the crew turned away from him, everyone was extremely mean to him, I think they were infected with something or there was some sort of gas in the ship?

Anyway eweryone was calling him names, I think (but I'm not sure) that towards the end of the infection they even became phisically abusive. Jim was in a horrible mental state, and after everything was back to normal Bones talked him into talking to a tgerapist, and I think therapy was a big part of this fic.

Hello all! I really hope you can help me.
So, I’m looking for a Stony fic that should be not more than two years old. I remember that I used to bookmark it but not subscribe :(

In this story, Tony used to be married to Pepper but then she dies in what seems to be a mysterious way.

Tony never talks about it. All the story seems to be in the “mistery” side because actually you don’t understand much about Peppers death at the beginning.

If I’m remembering correctly, it’s set in another epoque, but I’m not really sure about it.

Anyway, Tony meets Steve during an event where Steve is working as Hammer’s personal assistant.

Tony gets interested in Steve, almost fall in love from the very beginning, and asks Steve to get back home with him since the way Hammer treated him poorly. Tony actually kind of threatens Hammers to let Steve go.

From there, they get to Tony’s house and they keep on their “relationship”. They actually fall in bed together during that event.

And that’s all I can remember unfortunately :(

I really really hope someone can help my figuring the title out. I’d really like reading it again and see if it’s been finished.

All,

Grapery's Cotton Candy Grapes are now available. I repeat, Grapery Cotton Candy Grapes are now available. Also in select locations: Grapery's Flavor Promise which I managed to find for the first time and have entered a grape semi-coma with at least two and a half pounds left.

Central Market also had grapes, I kid you not, called Plot that tasted a little like Rose. No idea who makes them but man I wish I'd gotten some because three pounds of grapes, a pound of hatch pepper jack cheese, and olive bread really isn't enough even though I can no longer move.

Are the Greatest Grape People on earth available to you? Probably: The Grapery where you can find a complete Grape Calendar with all their varieties (my God, there is nothing here that isn't worth murder) and who distributes their great work.

Hey everyone! We have a ton of great stories up for claims this year. We're really excited about claims!

Now that the rough draft deadline has passed, we're putting the summaries up for artists to peruse. The claims don't actually open until Saturday, August 24th at about 12 noon EDT, but we want the fanworkers to have a chance to think about their claims now.

Authors, if your story is missing, or something else is wrong contact us ASAP so we can fix it.

This post will be closed to comments until claims open on Saturday. We will post a notice that claims are opening (around 12 noon EDT), at which point we will open up the comments and each artist can claim ONE story. Artists will be able to claim a second story after all fics have been claimed. Second claims will open on August 25th at 3PM EDT even if there are still unclaimed stories. However, no story will be able to have more than one artist unless all the stories have been claimed at least once.

When requesting your story, please list your top three choices in the order that you want them. Please give both the number and title of the fics you want (e.g., "1, Begin Again"). The claims will be on a first come, first served basis, and we will do our best to confirm your claim as soon as possible.

The post will be open for anonymous comments so that you can claim without joining Livejournal, but if you do, please be sure to list your username in your claim.

We are no longer taking rough draft submissions.

If you wish to be changed to the solo track, you have until Saturday when the Artist claims open to notify us and we will switch you.

If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume that you are dropping out.

This only applies to Traditional track authors. Tandem track and previously noted Solo artists do not have to notify us.

Hey everyone! We hope the writing is going well. Sorry for the late notice, but real life's been actively kicking our butts. Rough drafts are due tomorrow. So here's all the info about how to submit them. This is only required for the author track; since they're not being paired with an accompanying fanworker, tandem track and solo track participants don't have to submit a rough draft.

We are looking for rough drafts, so it is okay if they are very rough at this point. We're just checking for length and completion. Your story does not have to be completely finished, but you must have at least 80% of it done. This means that we will not be accepting any drafts under 8,000 words. However, if your story is going to end up around 20,000 words long, 80% would be 16,000 words.

If you are submitting an incomplete draft, please be aware that it needs to have all of the scenes at least outlined, including the ending, so we know that you are truly close to finished.

Anyone who submits a rough draft and does not end up finishing and posting their story on time will be banned from participation next year. There is no penalty for dropping out before you submit a rough draft, but once it is submitted you will be paired with an artist and it is not fair to them for you to drop out. In other words, make sure that you can actually be finished by the posting date before you submit.

If you're worried that you won't be finished in time, or don't have 80% but think you could be done writing by the time posting rolls around, you can switch to the solo track with no penalty. Let us know if that's what you want to do. Doing the solo track means you won't get paired with an artist, but you will be able to include your fic in our AO3 collection if you so choose. Solo fics still need to meet the minimum length requirement and still need to be beta read.

♠ Your subject line should say ROUGH DRAFT and include the username you signed up with
♠ We can accept the following file types: .doc, .docx, or gdoc. Make sure that your gdoc is shared with marvelbigbang@gmail.com so that we can see it. (Share the doc with editing capabilities; we need to be able to view the word count. If you submit it as view-only we will not be able to accept it.) If you can't use these file types contact us on our Page-A-Mod post and we will see what we can do. Don't just send us a different file type without contacting us first.
♠ In the body of the email you need to copy and paste the information below, keeping the html.
♠ Take time with your summary, because this is what the artists will use to make their claims. Make sure you give enough information for potential artists to make decisions, but don't write so much that it's overwhelming. Check out this post for helpful summary writing tips.
♠ Make sure to be clear and thorough about trigger warnings so that artists will know what they are signing up for. You must put any and all warnings in this version of your summary, even if you choose to use an "author chooses not to warn" label later. We don't want anyone to be unhappy with the match, so please warn for noncon, dubcon, excessive or graphic violence, underage sex, incest, character death, or anything else that might be potentially problematic for a reader. Do not warn for slash, femslash, or het.
